“Live Your Code” Outline

First Session: Think, Be and Act

  • Introduction and setting expectations.

  • Activities: Creating awareness of how I can think, be and act for myself and others.

  • Uncovering my core values and beliefs.

Second Session: Stop. Breathe. Respond.

  • Activities: What does this moment require of me?

  • Singing competition: Who will you be when you are tested?

  • Using your code, especially when it really counts.

Third Session: Living My Code

  • Putting my code into action by reconciling and/or showing signs of support for each other.

  • OR, Photo-language: “I will live my code by …”

  • John 13:34-35

  • Closing prayer

Program Overview

Outcomes:

Without a strong moral code and guiding beliefs, it is easy to forget to follow Jesus’ calling to “love one another as I have loved you”.

Your students will have time to reflect on and realign with the qualities they want to live by, which will guide their thinking, being, and acting in all situations.

They’ll also be invited to put these qualities into action through an opportunity to reconcile and/or show their support for each other.

Gospel message: “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13:34-35)

Suitable Year Levels:

Years 9, 10 and 11

Number of Students:

Between 30 and 250 (subject to suitable venue).

Program Length:

Full school day.

Investment:

This full-day program is $22 ex GST per student. Plus, optional “Live Your Code” journals are $5 ex GST each.

The daily minimum is $2000 ex GST.

Travel expenses are additional for schools further than a 2hr drive from Brisbane.

Personally, I was on such a high after the day especially viewing how the students participated with enthusiasm, engagement, and openness in their sharing throughout the day.

Speaking with staff afterwards, they all agreed that it was a great way to start Year 10 and they saw so many benefits and highlights come out of the day. In speaking with some students they said it was the best Reflection Day that had been to.
